You’ve heard of these places and they’re always praised for the gorgeous views and range of nature’s beauty that you can see when you visit here. We start with the largest city of Ladakh, Leh, and visit the Leh Palace in the evening. It is a former royal palace with prominent medieval Tibetan architecture built around the 1600s where you can take in an incredible view of Ladakh. The symbol of peace Shanti Stupa is located over 4,200m where you can enjoy the view of the mountain range. Then to the Leh Market where you can see the life of the city go on and shop for your needs and unique souvenirs such as artifacts. Included is also a full-day monasteries excursion, starting with the Hemis Gompa that was built in 1672 by King Singge Namgyal where an annual festival is held. Then to the beautiful, majestic Thiksey Monastery that’s the largest in central Ladakh that houses many old Thangka paintings and most popularly, the Maitreya Temple that was installed in 1970. Shey Palace is one of the most archaeologically important as it was left in ruins while it was built in the 16th century. Don’t miss out visiting the 3 Idiots Rancho School where Aamir Khan’s movie was filmed and then Sindhu Ghat which is on the river bank near Shey Monastery for an incredible view at the end of the day. The Nubra Valley, about a 4-hour ride away, is a gorgeous destination bundled with scenery including the Zanskar Range from the highest motorable road in the world, Khardung La. We’ll hop on a full-day Turtuk excursion where we’ll visit a unique village that used to be part of Pakistan and views of the mountains and Shayok River. Then off to the stunning Pangong Lake with a quick stop at one of the oldest Buddhist centers, Diskit Monastery, with unlimited views of Agham & Shyok Valley. Then we head back to Leh with a visit to the 16th century Hemis Gompa followed by an excursion to more monasteries around Leh. The Chemdey Monastery is a 400-year-old offering for the monks of Shamo Natha where an image of Padmaasambhava is housed. The Tak-Thok Monastery is a famous destination in Sakti Village that earned its name from being entirely built on rocks. The Hemis Gompa is a monastery left behind by King Singge Namgya from the 1600s where an annual festival is held. The Thiksey Monastery is Ladakh’s largest monastery in the central region and Shey Palace is a gorgeous former royal home where a 7.5m statue of Sakyamuni Buddha was erected.
